We Built MADjobs.ai to Make Job Hunting Easier
Over the last six years of AdTechGod and two-plus years of Marketecture Media, I’ve wanted to create a website to help people find their next job. And only our co-founder, Ari Paparo, could make it happen.
A lot of talented people are looking for work, and the process can be incredibly time-consuming. We built MADjobs.ai to make finding relevant, active opportunities easier.
Check it out and send us your feedback. We’ll continue improving it.
The Trade Desk Is Struggling. Independent Ad Tech Isn’t.
The Trade Desk is cutting roughly 15% of its workforce after revenue growth slowed, its valuation dropped from $69 billion to under $7 billion, and the company lost its place in the S&P 500. Critics argue that independence has become a disadvantage as Google, Amazon, and other platforms control their own inventory and data.
But Sam Khoury, Cofounder and Chief Strategy Officer of Marketecture Media, sees it differently: The Trade Desk does not have to carry independent ad tech on its back, he says on LinkedIn. Companies including AI Digital, StackAdapt, Viant, Yahoo!, Basis, and more are proving that independent alternatives can still compete. TTD has some challenges ahead, but the future of the open internet should not be measured by the performance of one company.
Omnicom’s $1.5 Billion Synergy Plan Comes With 15,000 Job Cuts
Omnicom plans to cut 15,000 jobs, bringing its headcount to roughly 105,000 by December as it works toward $1.5 billion in gross synergies following its acquisition of IPG.
It’s another significant round of job losses for an advertising industry already dealing with consolidation and restructuring. Omnicom is also coming off the loss of Pepsi’s global media account, which CFO Phil Angelastro called a disappointment.
There are plenty of financial reasons companies consolidate, but 15,000 jobs is still 15,000 people. That’s a massive amount of talent suddenly being impacted at a time when the advertising job market is already difficult. Hopefully, we see that talent land quickly and ultimately strengthen other parts of the industry.
Google Wants to Grade Your Ad Load
Google is adding experimental ad detection metrics to its Chrome User Experience Report, giving buyers and publishers more visibility into how ads affect the browsing experience. The new signals measure the average number of ads in view, the percentage of the screen they occupy, and the network and CPU resources they consume. Google says the data could help the industry evaluate inventory quality and make better ad product decisions, although it has not established what qualifies as a good or bad experience.
The bigger question is whether these signals eventually influence bidding and media prices. Google controls Chrome, operates one of the largest ad tech businesses, and generates many of the AI Overviews reducing publisher traffic. More transparency is useful, but in my opinion the industry should pay close attention to who defines quality and how those definitions are applied.
Everyone and Their Mother Is Partnering With ChatGPT
Amazon is partnering with OpenAI to let select U.S. advertisers extend campaigns into ChatGPT. But Amazon is only the latest name on a rapidly growing list.
Although you may not be keeping track, I am. A quick search on Claude helped me pull it together. Criteo, StackAdapt, Pacvue, and Adform cover ad tech. Adobe, Kargo, and Smartly handle creative. AppsFlyer and Adjust bring measurement. Amazon adds commerce media. Then there’s Dentsu, Omnicom, Publicis, WPP, and a growing list of major advertisers.
This is starting to look less like an ad product and more like a complete advertising network built inside ChatGPT. And listen, I’m AdTechGod. I love ads. But ohhhh man, what is the user experience going to look like when all of this is fully activated and scaled? That is the part I want to know.
